Your Motherhood is Art.

But it's deeper than just pretty pictures

and why you need to exist in your family memories.

I became a Mother at 18. I turned 19 exactly a week after they placed that sweet baby on my chest. I had no idea what laid ahead of me, but I would give anything to go back and experience that feeling for just a little longer. It's like the world shrunk in around us.

Her skin was so soft. She had the biggest eyes and it felt like my heart stopped every time I glanced down into her little face.

And it didn't stop there.

Every milestone. Every year that passed. Her first day of kindergarten was special but I still remember the excitement of taking her school shopping for the first time and laying her little outfit out for her the night before. I remember the gut punch when I put her on the school bus and hoped so much the other kids in her class would be kind to her.

I remember her first heartbreak. I ordered a care kit from Target of all her favorite snacks and the things that made her feel cozy and special and we spent the day in bed watching old Saved by The Bell episodes.

And now she is approaching her mid twenties and I feel that familiar pang when I come up the stairs and realize she isn't in her old bedroom any longer.

I have loved every moment of being her Mom.

So much so she inspired me to have eight other children. And I could tell you stories just like this of them as well. Firsts and lasts and how even the most mundane of details resonate so much with me.

So what does this have to do with Motherhood Sessions?

Everything.

Mostly because when I look back there are plenty of images of them in every season and every stage from the moment they were born.

But I didn't figure out how important it was for me to exist in these images with them until maybe the midway point and I can't get that time back.

I come from a time when women wore their jeans so low their hip bones stuck out. And if you didn't have hip bones you were SOL. (Shit out of luck for those that are wondering.)

People weren't kind.

And I spent my early twenties knee deep in the trenches of Motherhood so I was definitely SOL. It's worrisome because I am seeing a rise in that again. And I avoided so many opportunities to be in images with my children then.  I worry about this next generation of tender mothers. They deserve so much better than what we were handed down.

It's one of my biggest regrets for me- and them.

It's a generational curse I am hoping to break.

So my goal is to create these images for as many Moms out there as possibly can. It's why I make these so accessible. It's why I am opening the door to different kinds of motherhood sessions. I am here hoping to photograph you with your children in anyway and anywhere you feel resonates most with your family.

There will never be a better time than now.

From one Mother to another.

You can find more info here if you'd like to spend an afternoon with me and your children-as big or small as they are.
