New Year, Same Me (mostly)

 

Last year I decided I was going to completely overhaul my website. The one before that had been out of service for years and I can't even begin to imagine all the missed opportunities because of it. To be totally candid with you, it was a huge source of overwhelm for me for years. I had considered hiring out but knew I needed to figure out how to do as much of it I could myself because the last time.I hired someone it didn't go well and I was out thousands of dollars.


There are so many things I am still learning and hope to continue to improve on this space, but for now it'll do. I'd be dishonest if I said I wasn't proud for what I have been able to achieve. Despite the one well meaning message I got from someone saying that my work was "too good" for a Pixieset Website, I haven't let myself get too discouraged.


But starting over did create some challenges, like losing some of the progress I made on the old website. I really love a fresh start so it's okay. I did want to take a moment to share what I want to use the space as though.


Almost two decades a go when this all began I used to blog pretty regularly. First it was a blogspot blog (anyone remember those?) and then there was a Wordpress blog and things continued to evolve from there. I really enjoyed it.


There was a good mix of personal and professional shares with some tutorials sprinkled in, photoshop freebies, interviews and giveaways. It was in fact a pretty busy space. I would really love to revive that, along with my- newsletter, so I am putting the time in now to get that back up and running.


I don't know if anyone reads blogs any longer, but we will see where that goes!

Since I have you here, I would also love to share a new offering for this year for the sweet families that come to me. I have really wanted to put emphasis on creating memories while we capture them. I couldn't think of a better way to do that than to create these experiences around things you already love. Last year I had the chance to photograph Ricky and his gorgeous girls camping in Poudre Canyon here in Bellevue Colorado. They do it often so it was a way to really preserve something special for him to look back on some day.

His little girls may be too young to fully remember, but these images will ensure they have something tangible to look back on. They made s'mores and played in the river and danced to their favorite music. I hope so much to get to repeat this annually for them so he can literally watch his girls grow up in images.
